Hi everyone,
We've made a significant update to the receiver of the D12 RTR, and we want to clarify that the old and new radio systems are not compatible with each other. This is important when you are purchasing the D12 Remote Controller or the D12 receiver separately otherwise this does not affect the usage of your new D12 RTR.
Here's everything you need to know about the changes :
OLD Generation Board
The previous D12 receivers, used in the D12 RTR for many years, can be identified by having only a few basic ports : battery, headlight, switch motor, servo and an unused port.
The model numbers for these boards are XX-318R and XX-339R.
NEW Generation Board
With the launch of the D42 RTR, we introduced a new receiver featuring additional light output ports. This new receiver is incompatible with the old D12 remote.
The new receiver can be visually identified by four additional light output ports, highlighted in red below, and the model number "WPL-D" printed on the back.
During 2024, WPL begins to implement this new receiver into the D12 RTR. Unfortunately, there are no external visual indicators to identify whether your D12 RTR has a new or old receiver. The only way to check is by removing the front cab to view the receiver directly.
This isn’t an issue for standard use. However, when buying a spare remote, you might accidentally get a D12 remote that’s incompatible with the new D12 RTR receiver.
